This job aid is based on The Response Group’s (TRG) Incident Management Handbook, best practices of U. S. government agencies, e.g., U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Emergency Management Agency and international organizations, e.g., International Maritime Organization (IMO), International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA). It is designed for responders, who have limited or no recent experience with using the Incident Command System (ICS) or Incident Management System (IMS). It includes (1) background information on ICS/IMS, (2) position checklists for supporting the ICS/IMS Planning Cycle, and (3) recommended best practices.
Section 2 addresses all steps of the Planning Cycle, i.e., from Pre-assignment to Demobilization. For each step, a comprehensive checklist is provided, which identifies (1) tasks to be completed, (2) forms, reports or documentation used, and (3) position interactions.
